Marko,
The short answer to your problem is this: Kodak's camera drivers choose to present the device as a hard drive vice a removable storage. This is because they use the PTP model instead of the USB-MSDC model. OK... so that's probably greek to you (as it mostly is to me!). But it means that MC doesn't recognize the camera at all. I wonder if JRiver will ever rectify this, but I'd guess it's probably a bit of work!
The current solution is to use the WIA drivers for the camera. Windows XP has the appropriate ones built in - you just need to update your driver, choose "install from a list or specific location", "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.", and select "Digital Still Camera". Once this is done, your camera will show up as a "Scanners and Cameras" device because it will be using the WIA drivers instead of the PTP or USB-MSDC.
Well, this would all be a very happy ending, except for one small detail: JRiver hasn't fully implemented WIA support with their acquire function. What this means is that you'll need to manually choose "acquire" from within MC, instead of being able to choose an action from the pop-up dialogue box you'll see when you first connect your camera. If you use other products (Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, etc.), you'll see what I mean as they'll be listed in the actions. In all fairness, I understand that it's not the simplest of matters to register your software for WIA events.
I hope full WIA support or PTP support will be included someday soon. Until then, WIA drivers offer an OK workaround - even though it doesn't pass the "wife test".
