Which MC version support CPU non MMX ?
« on: January 19, 2004, 04:01:52 pm »

My relative has a computer.  It suits for his work.
But CPU does not support MMX feature.

And he likes MC very much.  I use MC since version 9.0.

So i don't know which MC version does not require MMX.

Thanks for interesting!

Sorry, but MC ( and MJ 8 ) require MMX.  We use optimized MMX assembly code in several speed critical areas.

Finding an old Pentium MMX CPU to swap in may not be too hard if you dig around a bit.

Thanks.

I forget to say that his CPU is Pentium Pro, mainboard has socket 8;  which means it can't be upgraded.   :'(

So, does early version of MC and MJ require MMX ?

Thanks for your interesting!

I had a dual pentium machine at work once last year which didn't have mmx. I put Media Jukebox 7 on it and it worked. It used to be on the ftp site, not sure if it is now. Might be worth looking.
