Ripping problems
« on: January 04, 2004, 12:53:38 pm »

Am new to Media Center.
1)Have tried ripping mp3, mpc and wma using the analog setup (tried normal, but the rip process froze up).  Rip was successful.  When I try to play the ripped file, there is no sound.  What am I doing wrong?
2)Can record and playback digitally using other programs.  Why can't I record/rip digitally using MC?
3)How do I stop playback during ripping?

Are you having the same difficulties with all of your CD drives, players & burners?
Are the 'ripped files' able to be seen in Windows? Can they be played in other software besides MC?

Perhaps we can break this down into it's individual components thus sort it out a bit easier.

Yes, I can see and open the file in other players.  There is still no sound.  Yes, I also have the problem with the other cd/dvd players on my system.

1) Check your mixer settings. Right click on the Speaker in your System Tray on the right side of the taskbar. Select Open Volume Controls. See if an applicable slider (ie Play Control or Wave/DirectSound) is muted or is set too low.

2) Not an implemented feature

3) Hold the Shift key down upon CD Insertion to keep the system from auto playing. There is also an option in MC to control this.
