I'm rebuilding my computer on a new OS, and would like to transfer my library (with play counts and ratings especially!) and play lists.  I'm actually doing this on a new partition on the same physical hard drive, and my music is all on it's own separate physical drive.  

What is the best way to do this so I don't lose all the info from my old library and play lists?  Can I just export the old library in the old OS and then import that into the new OS build?  Or, since I can "see" the old OS partition on the new one, can I just copy the old files, and if so, where are they located?  I couldn't find them looking under program files-> j river-> media center.  I saw the current play list under Data, but not the saved play list or the library file.

How about asking it this way.  What if the drive letter of where your music is changes due to adding a new partition?  Can you update all the files in the library to change to the new drive letter?  Or is there a "find broken links" type tool?

Use Library Tools > Find and Replace on the filename. (D:\Music\ with C:\Music\) for example.

Do it after moving the music or else MC will start moving it for you. (which may be alright too)

Well, I have 5000+ files in my library, so unless there's a batch way, that wouldn't be very fun!

I was able to get windows to change the drive letter, though, so I'm all set.  I copied all the files in /data from the old partition to the new, and then got windows to change drive letters, and I'm all set.

The 'Find & Replace' command is the batch way :)  You could select all the files and just run it once on them.  

The only thing I've found difficult is updating the cover art... since you can't do a find & replace on the 'image file' field :(  You can use the 'Image/Quick Find in Cover Art Directory', but this only works if your covers are named properly (I scanned all mine and gave them the shortest names I needed to recognise them), otherwise you have to re-add each album cover individually.  I'll add 'Find & Replace' on the image file field to the MC10 feature suggestion thread.

A 'Find Broken Links' tool would be handy... I'd like a smartlist of all files that are broken, so I can go through them and see which don't exist and which have been moved (eg if you moved only a subsection of your library), but this would be used only rarely, so I can see it happening any time soon.
