Hopefully not, but possibly. If you are having problems initially, first try to right click on your iPod drive letter and select 'Rebuild Database'. You will lose your Playlists, but your files should remain and then will be recognizable by MC. Before you try any of this, if you don't want to initialize, elaborate on what problem you are having and I will see if I can make an additional suggestion short of initializing.
