CDDB to YADB?
« on: January 10, 2004, 09:27:57 am »

I'm in the middle of ripping a few thousand CDs and while YADB is getting better, it still isn't finding a few of my CDs, especially compilations which are the most mind numbingly tedious types of CDs to manually enter.

So, I was wondering, since I can use other utilities that find these CDs, is there any way I can trick MC into recognizing them? I need to use MC to rip since I'm going to APE so I'd like to pop the CD in the drive, find it and then have MC see the CD with the artist/album/track info that can then be used while ripping and to update YADB.

Thanks for any help with this...

Nevermind...

I figured it out. I use EAC to get the info, save it to the cdplayer.ini file. Then I go into MC and select Lookup Track Info From YADB. After a long time, I get a message stating that the disk isn't available, would I like to use local info (paraphrased).

Since I know that I want to use local info from the start, and since I'm using this info to update YADB, maybe a win-win situation could occur where a Lookup Track Info From cdplayer.ini File could be added to MC?

Seems like the easier it is to update YADB, the better it will become.

not sure but It could also be a violation in property

lets say this info came directly from CDDB.

CDDB could then state that this disk information was taken from there database and used to add to the YADB database.

CDDB could then take JimH's brown truck with the bumber falling off and the bad paint job.

Seems like a fair trade...

You could use FreeDB. They already have a rusty truck.

Quisp

Still no way to do as you want
Can be because they did not think about it
Can be that they try to ask you to feed YADB- Like MM

The only way is to get cdinfos for all the cds you want to rip
And ,after that to rip in Automatic Rip mode

PS: fr5eeDB has TWO rusty trucks...
so J Gateley is as well out of trouble if you use freeDb
And , with EAC ,it is what you use

Just to clarify, I just want to be able to directly get Artist/Track info locally without having to wait 15-20 seconds for YADB to ask me if I want to get my info locally. Probably didn't explain it too well.

MC already lets me get the info, it just does it in a time consuming and indirect way. I think the feature needs to exist as it currently does, I just would like a means to get the local info directly, without having to re-query YADB. As it turns out, I finally got over the mega options of EAC and am using it to rip all my CDs, the error correction has been truly amazing. Next step, cue sheets!
