I have been using Media Center with TIVO for several months now and love it. However, there is one thing that I cannot get it to do. With the new Weeb Media feature, I am adding my Internet radio stations to the listings, and that works fine. However, I cannot figure out how to get it to list and play the live streams through my TV. I cannot find anything in the Help files, so I am hoping that someone has been able to do it here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the future, I look forward to being able to stream Internet video as well, but will be happy to get the radio feature for now! ?

If you search here, you may find more info, but I think you can add a station to a playlist and then play the playlist.  Not all formats will work, however.

Thanks for the help. I was able to add the station to my playlists. I am able to get it to work with no problem from Media Center. However, even though the station is recognized in the Media Center menus on TIVO, the station does not play. Any ideas why it won't play on TIVO, but will play on my computer?

Do you know what format the stream is?

What version of MC are you using? MC10 has added functionality for streaming to TiVo.

I am using 9.1. Is 10.0 a full release or a beta?

10 is a beta. It includes the capability to play WMA streams to a TiVo.

I installed the 10.0 Beta, and the radio stations are now streaming just fine. Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, will this work with a station that streams video as well as audio?

No, we don't stream video yet.

The TiVo HMO is only for pictures and music. We've looked into streaming video, but there are quite a few hurdles.

I didn't expect to find a video stream, but thought I would ask.

I have noticed a second problem with the streaming Internet Radio when used with TIVO. I have about seven stations listed on my Radio Playlist in Media Center. However, when I access the Radio Playlist from TIVO, only the first two stations that I created show up.

I have rebooted my computer and even TIVO a couple of times, but the problem with the Radio Playlist persists.

I was just checking my radio files again and noted that the two that are showing up in the TIVO listings have wma as their file types. The radio stations that are not showing up in the TIVO listings are ram, wmv, and smil. Is that the cause of the lack of listing?

ram is real audio, and we can't stream that to the TiVo. wmv is windows media video, and again, we can't do video. I think the smil is the same thing.

Thanks, by process of elimination that is what I thought was going on. I guess the limitation is on TIVO's end?

For real audio, it's because we don't have access to a decoder (to decode the stream and re-encode it as MP3 for the TiVo).

For video, it's a limitation of the TiVo. Limitation is not quite the right word. You can
stream TiVo to TiVo, for example, and we'd like to do this someday, but there are a lot of hurdles to cross.

Thanks for the info. I think the program is great and it really enhances TIVO in my mind. I think that your posting doesn't bode well for Real Audio. I have seen some recent shifts from stations that previoulsy streamed Real Audio and now stream wma - and I don't think the lawsuit is going to change that.

Hi Tim.

I start playing the stream, go to Playing Now, righ click, and then Inport Into LIbrary. Then I can copy it to playlists and stuff. There's probably an easier way.

I followed those directions, and it worked fine for me. I just created a playlist called Radio and added my stations there. When I want to listen to them through TIVO, I just go to the Media Center playlist on TIVO and select from my Radio Playlist. It works great. They are then always available  when I am just using Media Center with my computer. The advantage there is that all of the radio stations show up and work while the TIVO only lists and plays the wma streams.
