Divx SRT Subtitles
« on: January 17, 2004, 08:09:50 am »

many video players now includes the ability to load the new STR subtitle file which allows us to load subtitles to the current playing divx movies.. so any chance to have this on Media Center 10 ? it would be great.
one of the coolest programs that supports this new feature is a player called "RedLight" you can check it on http://www.redlight.net so you can be able to know how this new common feature works..
and one of the most beautifull sites that provides subtitles in all languages for all movies is : http://www.allsubtitles.exits.ro

i hope to see MC version 10 Supports this soon :)

Use vobsub istead, it's a direct show plugin that permit join the legend and the movie together with no adittional configuration, you only have to have in the same folder the name of the legend equal to the movie.

Ex:

tomb raider.avi  //  tomb raider.srt

Yup. DirectVobSub works a treat. I think you mean .SRT files, as well. I've never heard of an STR subtitle format

vobsub also loads pretty much any other subtitle format as well, and works nicely with MC :)

It's a DirectShow filter, so it works with anything that uses to DirectShow to play video. You can download it here
http://www.divx-digest.tv/software/subtitle/VobSub_2.23.exe
It looks more complicated than it is since it also contains a subtitle ripper/converter. Just make sure you install DirectVobSub and that your subtitle file has exactly the same base name as the avi file
e.g.
Tomb_Raider.avi
Tomb_Raider.srt

You should see an icon appear in your task bar when it starts to play and you can use this to adjust options.

The latest versions of FFDshow also offer direct support (DirectVobSub sin't needed) and it has a nice interface.

YOu can get it here: http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/
