Burning quits after three tracks
« on: January 23, 2004, 01:42:12 am »

I've burned dozens of CDs without any problems, but suddenly I'm getting this problem. The burn process correctly shows there are 27 mp3s to burn, then as soon as it starts doing the first one, the first song takes up a third of the total space, and so on. Three songs get burned, the fourth barely starts, and then it says it's completed.

The total time is under 80 minutes, and I haven't changed any settings from the other times when it's worked.

I tried it on four different CDs of two different brands, rebooted, and every time the same thing happens.

The process I use is to go to a file location, select the folder, click the Burn tool, rearrange the tracks, then click Start.

Any clues? Thanks.

My system is Windows Me (I know, I know...)

Suddenly? Do th problems coincide with the installation of anything else? Your ASPI is old therefore hit the Adaptec site, DL and install ASPI 4.71.2.

Thanks, xen, for the tip. While it didn't solve the problem, it's good to have the update. It turned out to be a corrupt mp3 file, that I had actually recorded before with no problem. So, the burning process only went as far as that song, and then stopped. But I replaced the file and all is well.

One thing that is happening constantly that may go away when I upgrade to Windows XP eventually is that MJ crashes about a third of the time that I use the command: File, Library, Update Library. Must be a Win Me thing. MJ also crashes at random times about 10% of the time I use it. But I wouldn't trade it in for anything else.
