I seem to be having a problem importing files.  I keep my mp3s in 4 subfolders within the same folder.  MC seems to read the first 2 subfolders ok, but gets hung up in the 3 folder.  If I click on cancel MC locks up.  I first noticed this problem yesterday in the previsious build and it doesn't work in this one either.  I have about 13,000 music files with about an equal amount in each of the 4 subfolders.

If it helps, if enter Explore and click on the songs in the 3rd subfolder the can be played in MC.  So it doesn't appear to be corrupted.

Try importing part of the third directory.  A few files at a time to see if you can find the file that won't import.

Thanks Jim.  I take it you think it may be a particual file casuing the problem?

I selected the 3rd subdirectory alone and finds a about 6 new files and gets hung up.  I am not sure how to import a select a number of files from within the subdirectory.  Please advise, if that is what you meant.

Try splitting the files into new folders.  Half in one, half in the other.  See if it works on either folder.  If not, split again.  Keep splitting until you find the file or files.  It's tedious but it's the only way I know to find the problem.

You could also ask MC to rename files from properties (under library tools) and set it to make a new directory for each artist and album.  Might work.

If you find it more comfortable, you can also import the files from Windows Explorer.

Open the third folder, select the first 20 files or so, right click and chose Media Center -> Import. Keep on doin' this until you can isolate the file (s) that cause the problem.

I found that I had a about a dozen corrupt mp3 files.  Interesting enough, MC will not import a corrupt file.  So it made life a little easier trying to find them.  Thanks for the help guys!
