Problems with TV Tuner
« on: November 24, 2002, 11:59:09 am »

I have seen a few posts regarding problems with TV Tuner but have not seen any answers yet.

I have a WinTV board and cannot get it to work within MediaJukebox.

When I scan for channels the message I get is 'Failed to Access TV Tuner'.  It then goes to one channel (CNN) but that's it.

Tried removing TV Tuner registry entries as one suggested but still have a problem.

Anyone have an answer?

Thanks, Pete

what version are you using, go to help and system info and paste it in the forum. maybe J river can help when they go back to work tomorrow.

if you are not using the most current version of MJ8 or MJ9 you should update.

Did you install the software that came with the card?  Are there any updates for it?  Does it work?

I have the same TV card and the same exact problem, though I'm using MJ9 -- I get the "failed to access TV tuner" message, with a TV channel playing just fine behind that error dialog -- once I hit "ok" and the error dialog disappears, so does the channel that's being displayed.

The TV card works fine with the software that came with it.

I'm running Win2K, Athlon Tbird 1000, 512MB RAM.

Have you looked for an update for their software on their site?  MJ should be able to use their Directshow or WDM drivers.

If you're using MJ 9, make sure you have the latest version.

as an aside, even though im no longer allowed to watch tv in version 8 according to your policies, i'll be kind enough to add that the TV tuner doesnt work for me either (in 8.388.

I grabbed the latest drivers from Hauppauge, still having the same problem.  I'm using the newest build of MJ (9.0.84).

Thanks, by the way, for all the hard work you guys do.
