Display problem with 10.0.58
« on: February 02, 2004, 10:26:35 am »

Rizlaw Quote:

"10.0.57 and now 10.0.58 have big problem for me:

After installation, MC opens approximately 60% of full size. Minimize, maximize and full screen in upper right corner are totally missing. I can't drag any part of image to resize either."

Matt's Response:

"Right-click the tray icon to maximize and restore a couple of times.  See if it goes away.

If not, please start another thread and we'll dig some more."

Rizlaw's answer:

Matt, there is no MC icon in the system tray to right click on. I tried to minimize/maximize from the minimized application icon at the bottom of the taskbar, but it doesn't work either.

Try erasing this registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties\FramePos

Try erasing this registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties\FramePos

The specific key does not exist as you have written. What I see are the following:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties\DSP Presets

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties\EQ Presets

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties\Keywords

Are you logged in as a user with permissions to write the registry?  Admin rights?

It's a value on the right in regedit.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties

Value: FramePos

Same thing here.  I find that if I right click on the MC10 icon in the system tray and minimize and then restore that the problem clears.

This only happens to me on the computer that has a dual monitor setup. The problem is repeateable whenever MC is maximized for the first time on display #1.  For example, if MC initially opens as a less-than-full-screen window and I then maximize MC, it fails to fully paint the screen.  Same thing happens if the full screen state is attempted when MC initailly opens due to previous screen status at time of MC shutdown.  The display can always be corrected by minimizing and restoring from the system tray.

On screen #2, it's a little worse.  Any attempt (not just the initial full screen attempt) at full screen fails to fully paint.  Again it can always be cleared by minimizing and restoring from the system tray.

Hope that helps.

It's a value on the right in regedit.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties

Value: FramePos

Thanks for the clarification. Found it, deleted it and now everything works.

BUT, so you know. I have a dual LCD display setup (two Samsung SyncMaster 192T's connected via DVI to a Matrox Parhelia Videocard at 1280x1024).  When I first opened MC10 on monitor 1, I dragged it over to monitor 2 so that in all future openings of MC, MC would always open on monitor 2. I don't know if this might account for the sudden problem, since all beta 10 builds up to 57 and 58 installed and worked fine with this hardware setup.

It's happening on my #2 monitor too.  Look for a fix before long.

Matt, it's nice to know I'm not alone in the dual monitor Universe.

Ditto re the problem and a dual monitor setup.

I've been having another related problem...
Occasionally, when I restore MC (turn into a window) when it's already maximized, the MC window becomes about 4 times the size of my monitor.  I have to manually shrink it down.  It only happens when I have my TV set as a 3rd monitor.
