Media Server issues
« on: January 24, 2004, 07:37:22 pm »

Hi MC,

My wife downloaded the itune for windows and we turn on manage the files.  iTune changed all our filenames in our library, which we also use in MC.  MC stopped working with the changed names.

I managed to remove the database and reimport the files.  This OK.  The smartlist works, but the playlist no longer works.

I then access the MC library from my notebook.  I realize that I can't get the notebook to read the new library from the media server.  The client still download the file from the server, but the file location still points to the old names.  Hence, I can't play it anymore from the client.

Anyway to force the client to receive a fresh copy of the library?

I'm not sure I understand, but try going into options and changing the library (in Media Server) to be the new library.

you may just need to restart media server.

when a client connects to media server it always sent the complete library to the client in a zipup file the client unziped it and loaded it.

Hi King Sparta,

I do realize that MC sends a compressed file to the client.  The issue is that when I make changes in the server, and reconnect the client, not the latest information is reflected by the client.

I'll try to restart my PC and see if there is any improvement.

But I think it is not user friendly. In the client, you can be connecting, and not the latest is being reflected.

Maybe you are sharing a different library in Media Server than the one you are using in Media Center.

If you stop and re-start Media Server, you will share the latest from the library it is sharing.
