Unable to import existing *.mp3s
« on: February 14, 2004, 12:20:07 pm »

I just reformatted C:
My mp3 databas is on F:

I did not ask Media Centre to import when I installed it (I intended to do it later)

When I import I tell it to look in F:\My Music\

It tells me that it has found 5711 files and has imported the same number.
However when I click OK - the files are just not listed.

Media Library      - 703 files (6.8 MB  - 0:00)
           Audio       -     0 files (0 bytes - 0:00)
          Images     - 703 flies (6.8 MB  - 0:00) These are cover art
           Video       -     0 files (0 bytes - 0:00)
           Audio       - 703 files (6.8 MB  - 0:00)

So where are the other 5008 files?

I did ensure I was searching subdirectories (if I didn't then the cover art would not have imported either)

I did ensure I has asked it to look for mp3s (or it would not have found 5711 files).

So why are they not there?

This has me stumped.

I installed Real One Player - and "Hey Presto" - all 5000 tracks are listed in Media Centre.

Was installing the Real application a pre-requsite?

I note the in Media Centre clicking 'HELP' - 'About Media Centre' it says: Media Playback powered by RealNetwork's RealPlayer'.

I had assumed that the required engine was embeded in Media Centre itself, not sourced from a required install of that application.

Can anyone confirm this?
