Weird problem with View Scheme
« on: January 27, 2004, 07:52:55 am »

 ?

I recently imported some new music to my existing library.  All of it imported fine, except that one of the artist names from that import is now associated in my default view scheme with every one of the other 14,000 songs in my library.  So when I click on that artist's name in my view scheme (Artist grouped by 4 | Artist), what appears in the list of songs is every song in my entire library.  Other artist names from that import do not have this problem.

The tags for those other songs are intact from prior to the import - ie I did not accidentally retag every file.

Any ideas?

Maybe try creating a new view scheme that only has artist.  See if it still happens then.

Looking at the artist column will let you know exactly what MC is working with.

Also, make sure you're running the latest MC 9.1 or 10.0.

Did you try resetting the views to default?  Right click on the "Media Library".

or

Your database may be corrupt.  Try clearing it.

or

Try deleting all the .jmd files in the program/data directory.  Those are your database files.

You'll lose all your database entries.  Playlists, etc.

Thanks, but tried all of the above without success.  Any more suggestions?

What's the artist name?

"Ann Reinking & Bebe Neuwirth /"

The fwd slash was a mistake.  I can't correct it because if I do MC wants to change the Artist tag on all the songs to that name from the actual artist name ....

Pls don't ask me about liking showtunes.  This is for my wife :)

MC should only chnage the artist name for the files you select.  Back up your library first and try it.

Fixed this by deleting the album name from the library and then reimporting.  Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.

Thanks all for the suggestions.
