Best Music INFORMATION Site?
« on: May 20, 2004, 10:35:06 am »

 ;D ;D ;D

Hi, y'all. This is my first post, so please be gentle.

I'm looking for recommendations for the best web site for information about pop & rock music recordings since the mid-50's. What I mean is: Let's say I have a recording of a song, and I know the artist who recorded it. What I want to know is WHEN (just the year) that original recording was released (in the USA, preferably). I don't need to know the date of any later compilations that included it.

The Allmusic.com site is great (usually) if you know what ALBUM a song originally appeared on, but mainly I'm interested in dates of single releases, and I usually can't find that.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

You might take a look on the Third Party plugin board here.  KingSparta or Al@n may have something.

You can actually search for songs by name on AMG - without knowing which album the single is from.
