Tried to install MJ but got the message: "Errors encountered while performing the operation. Look at the information window for more details." There is no Information Window, and this message is generated whilst the MJ files are been de-compressed from the archive.

Did a search on this message in the forum and at least one other person had a problem, although this was with Media Center beta 10.0.12. I've tried to install the released version of MC and this fails with the same error message???

I'm trying to install this to a Windows XP machine, .NET Framework and Visual Studio 2003. I mention these cause these are the only big differences between my PC and a friend that has a smilar setup and the package un-packs without error there...

Off the top of my head...

1) Make sure you get a good download...do not use a download manager
2) Temporarily disable any firewalls & antivirus software
3) Must have administrative priviledges to install.

Hi,

Just signed up today and have been trying to install MJ v8.0.400 onto my Win98 SE with all current Service Packs and updates. I have 256mb RAM and 80GB hard disk.  I have downloaded MJ about 3 times from JR site and everytime I try to install it I get the following error:

I have admin rights, did not use a DL manager, and I disabled AV and Firewall while downloading and trying to install.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like an incomplete or corrupt download.

What browser are you using to download?  IE?

What is the file size?

Disabling a firewall may still leave it active.  We've seen that before.

Other than that, I really can't say what the problem could be.

Thanks for the quick reply.

In answer to your questions;
1) I have used IE6, Mozilla Firebird, Crazy Browser, Avant, and Netscape to download MJ8 now.
2) File size says 8.09MB(8,490.050 bytes)

As for Firewall and AV programs, I have uninstalled them all(something I do not want to do ever again, or need to).
