Convert Format: "Failed to update..." error?
« on: February 13, 2004, 07:19:13 am »

just experienced a similar error as mentioned in the analysis thread, this time with the Convert Format tool.

I'm converting apes to mpc's. the apes had coverart inside the files. I'll try to get back to this later, but atm, it would appear that removing internal art has fixed it (need to test if it was that, or simply restarting the conversion process).

Anyhow, the three files that threw the error (mpc's as the conversion finished and then deleted the ape) appear to play OK but still continue to "fail to update". No, they are not read-only files. I have backups of the apes so will use these to test tonight if there's no more light shed on this by then.

I had the exact same problem about a week ago.  I think MC seems to corrupy mpc tags [at least when the mpc is created by converting from ape].

Well ,if i converted you to MPC , i need to try to help you.

When you rip to APE and when you convert to MPC set MC to write APEv2 tags ONLY.

If APE got IDV tags , set the MPC files to have APE2v ONLY

MPC does not like IDv tags
Very good taste from MPC in my opinion

It can be the problem
Also one files on your list gave me a " File missing' cannot be found " when i downloaded the album
Do not know if there is a link to your problem.

I do not remember where you can find the option concerning tags
..beside this ,i use 9.0..so...
