MC 9.1.316 MPG Fast Forward Not Working

When viewing an MPG video file, the rewind and fast-forward options do not work. I can still grab the slider and drag the video forward, but that doesn't work very smoothly when trying to fast-forward through commercial breaks on recorded TV shows.

The Help files say I can fast-forward by pressing Ctrl-Left Arrow to rewind and Ctrl-Right Arrow to fgast-forward, but this doesn't work.
