Yes!? - Latest MC Beta w/REVO+ASIO+SPDIF
« on: February 17, 2004, 10:45:00 pm »

Hello All,

Can you please confirm that I'm not hallucinating!?

Here's what I'm running.

- Latest build of MC (10.0.72)
- Latest REVO 7.1 drivers
- ASIOx  - A generic ASIO driver for Windows 2K/XP (http://membres.lycos.fr/asiox/)
- SPDIF

Am I missing something because I can hear music!...

UPDATE:

Ok, this setup is not stable! I've managed to listen to a couple of tracks (flawlessly), ran to post this message, when back on my HTPC and now I hear some static/garbage with the music. I'm now unable to listen to a clean track! Arggg... I know that I had *all* the third party ASIO drivers installed and ASIOx was the only one that worked. I uninstall the others and now I have garbage coming out of the SPDIF w/the music.

I'll do more tests and update.

later.

Ok, I managed to make it work with ASIO4ALL - Version 1.7 Beta, but I needed to use "force 16bit samples".

More testing to come.

But is it bit-perfect? Can you confirm?

There was an ASIO fix recently for drivers that didn't create their own thread to operate in.

Not sure about the static.  It could be hardware or connection related.  Let us know if you figure anything else about it.

just wanted to chime in that I am very interested if you get this working.  For the past year i've been holding off on buying a revo 7.1 and mostly because of this issue.  If the DACs on this card are better than my onkyo then i guess it doesn't matter but i want to keep bit-perfect digital pass through an option.

Since I found this combo, I've been using the Revo 7.1 with ASIO via SPDIF. I've been using the latest ASIO4ALL drivers (http://michael.tippach.bei.t-online.de/asio4all/index.html) with no problem.

Is it bit-perfect? I'm not really sure... I would love if someone could test and confirm this... but I can tell you that it sounds great on my Marantz 8200.

Hope this helps.

Wow, this totally stopped MC's staticy transitions when starting playback after explicitly stopping it on my m-audio 24/96.
