Media Server
« on: February 18, 2004, 05:29:41 pm »

Hi - I am currently running Media Center 9.1.316 (registered)
I have an office pc and one at home - i want to download my files and listen to them at work - the media server gives me an erro handle in correct zone.

How do I download files to and from these 2 pc's is the question ? Using media server or download manager ?

Media Server.

Did you try the Help section of the program?

A search here will also be useful.

Me again - read the book, it refers to client and server - only problem we have here is that my 2 pc's are not on the same local network - the office is 60miles away from home :(

It's the same.  One is a server, running Media Server.  The other connects to it by using the Library options under File in MC.

You could practice on one network if you wanted to confirm it works and then move one side to the other network.

The TiVo forum here has a lot of threads on Media Server and much of the problem solving works for your needs as well.

Linksys has a good general information site on things like routers and IP addresses, etc.  You may need that.
