Problem Connecting with Media Server
« on: March 03, 2004, 11:31:30 pm »

I have been struggling for a few hours trying to get MC to recognize Media Server on a new PC I have recently installed.  Everything else works on this new PC but when I try to connect to Media Server on another PC on my LAN, it seems to recognize the server (it displays the name of the library being shared) but doesn't actually load the library and gives me a message that Media Server can't connect and the process has timed out.

This PC is replacing my old HTPC which connected via Media Server all the time.  I have not changed anything on the server side although I have fooled around this evening with changing ports, etc.

Any ideas what might be causing this??

Make sure the versions are the same on both sides.

Firewalls can be an issue.  XP has one itself.

Try connecting to it from the same PC.
