help me choosing if MediaCenter is right for me.
« on: March 13, 2004, 04:12:28 pm »

I hope to use MediaCenter in my car.

Pros:
+rating system
+volume level control (audio analysis)
+possibility for rating

Cons:  (feel free to correct me)
-memory hog, (increases hibernate/resume time)
-no WM API , hard to automate
-no car friendly skin

I also look for a car friendly skin, (for 7" touchscreen )
with big rating buttons , not too much other fuzz.

is there any ?

Al

Welcome. Firstly, search the board. There are people here with successful MC based solutions. I think Dragyn is the main person. I remember seeing pictures. Im sure you'll get more knowledgeable feedback.

There are plenty of skin designers here. Not sure of an existing car-friendly readymade, but I think its reasonably easy to modify one, especially if you are the kind of person who is not afraid of cutting holes in your car dashboard and installing computers and screens, i.e. braver than me :). Good luck.

thnx - tried to earch , but did not even found info on how to make skins, then, i found that the skins are more XML than anything else, and that's very cool.

should be able to modify that...

there's one thing that bothers me .... the skin pages are broken, have been broken for some time,    ... MediaCenter is still alive & developing ? - or is it somehow "on hold"  ?

- it's pretty amazing when it comes to functionality anyway...

There's a forum here dedicated to plugins and skins.  Check that out.

As for the user interface you may want to check out music lobby which is designed to work with MC and they've done some work recently aimed at car audio.

>>MusicLobby

thanks , but I and not crazy, and have no plans giving away US $109.99  for that Lobby+mainlobby  , wich I see as a plugin.
