Burning finishes prematurely
« on: October 09, 2003, 06:44:08 am »

I attempted to burn a CD after recording from vinyl.  There were 14 tracks in the list, but after 3 tracks, the process finished and the disk ejected.

The auto insert feature was disabled and with the second attempt the eject after completion was turned off, but the disk still stopped after 3 tracks.  I also tried reducing the burn speed from 40x to 24x.

I have not tried all of the suggestions under CD Burning Tips when you get a WRITE error message.  However, my situation is somewhat different in that I didn't receive an error message, but that the software thinks it's done after 3 tracks.

I used the specific Samsung driver because I wanted to leave out the 2 second gap between tracks. The music is a live album which doesn't have silence between songs.

The CD burned all 14 tracks fine using EZ CD Creator 5 that came with my PC.  However, it did put in the 2 second gap between tracks.

Any thoughts about what is going on here?

I decided to try out Media Center 9.1 and interestingly the problem went away.
