iPod Smart Lists synchronization ?
« on: March 21, 2004, 06:17:37 am »

I am wondering is it possible at all to synchronize Smart Lists with iPod and MC9 ?

Whenever I synchronize my iPod with MC I loose ALL my Smartlist on iPod i.e "Top 25 Most Played"...

1. So is there a way to preserve Smart Lists on iPod ?!?

2. Is there a way to synchronize Smart Lists" from iPod to MC ?!

Is going to MC 10 an option? The synchronization is much more sophisticated in MC 10. If not, what version of 9 do you have and what version of the Portable Drive Plugin?

Ok I have upgraded for testing purposes to the latest MC 10.0.95
The version of Portable Drives driver is 9.0.109.

Still no luck with iPod synchronization :(

Upgrading to MC10 is definately an option but I would like to have this feature working on MC10.

May I ask you does it works for you ?

Are you able to synchronize your iPod with MC10 and preserve Smart Lists on iPod.
It will be even nicer to have ability actulay to create Smart Lists on your iPod using MC not iTunes

What is actualy being enhanced in MC10 comparing to MC9 regarding iPod support ?

On the Plugins download page there is an old version of plugin available
Version: 9.0.89 and it's intended for MC9!
http://accessories.musicex.com/mediacenter/accessories.php

and if you lookup fro MC10 only plugins there is NO plugin for iPod ?!

So the question is which version of  HH (Handheld) plugin for iPod one should use in order to have minimum problems ?

Where to get it ?

TIA for suggestions what goes wrong...

bobrock,

Could you post further iPod questions here...

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=19995

I will lock this thread now.

In answer to your questions..

MC 10 and synchronization should be fine. Create smartlists or playlists in MC and then right click on the iPod drive and select 'Synchronization' and sync the playlists/smartlists. MC 10 provides more sophisticated synching in that MC is much more aware of the files on iPod and makes more efficient decisions about synchronizing the files.

You do not need to install a plugin for iPod. Simply install 10 and the current plugin will be installed. (9.0.109 which will be 9.0.110 tonight).
