MC10 won't start
« on: March 22, 2004, 12:30:04 pm »

My MC10 shows a dialogue 'Gathering information and updating view' in attempting to start.

That is as far as it gets.

I have reinstalled over the top with the same result.

If I uninstall and then reinstall will I lose my settings and data?

I have a back-up of the MC data directory. Can I use this after the reinstall if necessary?

Thanks.

The data directory has the database files (jmd extension).  You can try replacing them after reinstalling, but it could be that one of them is bad.

Thanks Jim,

I believe the problem comes from having MC start up in last view, which was showing the My Computer tree expanded.

Which file has the lst view info stored in it? I would like to try just replacing this first.

Copy, then delete the value here in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\LastTreePath

If MC then starts, email the value to matt @ jriver.com so we can try to see what is happening.

See if you can reproduce the problem again.  If so, give us some more details as to what and why.

Thanks for helping.

Matt,

Is this what you need?

(1:1)(1:5)(16:Drives & Devices)(11:My Computer)(15:Local Disk (C:))(7:WINDOWS)(8:SYSTEM32)

I'll hold off deleting until I hear from you.

Feel free to delete.  Otherwise, if you waited long enough, MC would probably start.  It's just analyzing a lot of files.

Thanks mindracing.
