Multi-Channel Ogg Vorbis files
« on: March 23, 2004, 09:44:23 am »

I remember when OGG was first proposed that it was supposed to hold more than 2 channels of audio. Has anyone here ever tried playing back a multi-channel OGG file? Does MC even have the ability to play one? Is there a ripper that can convert AC3 to multi-channel OGG?

Hello All,

I can confirm BeSweet makes wonders with AC3 files and OGG transcoding.

"Problem is" Media Center (10.0.173) and Vorbis Input plug-in (2.0.57) are unable to render 6-channel OGG files: "Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files / Error: Unknown error"

Playing a 2-ch OGG file goes just fine.

Playing the 6-ch OGG file using OGG DirectShow filter (in GraphEdit) goes just as fine (and outputs goose-bumping 6-channels sound through my Sonica's SPDIF connexion).

[edited] BTW, playing the corresponding 6-ch DTS-WAV through MC also goes as fine ;)

Below are the BeSweet transcoding logs.

May we expect an updated Vorbis Input plug-in that solves this issue ? That'd be cool  ;D
