Recovering Library after HD crash
« on: March 28, 2004, 03:48:45 pm »

I lost my boot drive, and I'm now staring at the old MC file folders in my Microsoft Backup program, and I'm not sure what to do with them.  The Backup program contains both the "J River" folder and the folder that I used for my Libraries.  Can I get back all those countless hours of work with just these folders? ... or will there be any registry (etc) conflicts to worry about? I have already re-installed MC 9.1, and my thought was to just copy files from the restored backup ... over-writing the new files that were created by this latest install?

Thank you for any help.

PS: No, I never made a bona fide "Backup" of my libraries to a .zip file using the internal MC backup system.

Put your mind at ease...

Assuming that the new installed version is the same as what you backed up, you can do a wholesale overwrite of the new installation with all the backed up files. Of course, make sure MC is not running when you restore.

I appreciate your help.  I'll give it a go after I get some of these other apps up and running again.  Hard drive crashes have a way of ruining a weekend.  :(
