TV Tuner Problem

Can anyone help?
I have recently aquired an ATI-All in Wonder 128 AGP card. The TV Tuner works fine when used with the ATI TV Software. But when TV is viewed through MC the pictue is black and white and flickers also the picture is not aligned and seems to have a ghost image behind the main feed and soome noise bars- Hard to explain but all is not good.

My country code is set to 44 and video standard to Pal-B

I could just use the ATI TV but I love MC and would like to do all in MC. Also MC seems to offer widescreen options.

Any ideas ?

Do you have DirectX 9.0b installed? DX 9.0b has a bug. You must install a hotfix from Microsoft. Download "Non-NTSC TV Tuner Hotfix for DirectX 9.0b (KB825116)" from this link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=8dfd1b6d-e177-4a0e-91d0-b4310675b02b&displaylang=en

Thanks for that - Yes I already have it installed. I had to install it to get the ATI software working.

But did you install the hotfix that fixes the bugs in DirectX 9.0b?

Hi  N0z1f;

Which ATI A-I-W card do you have ?

I have had three to date but my newest one, the 9600 Pro (with FM tuner), does have a problem with MC TV.  It produces jerky images, so much so that I no longer use MC as my TV viewer.

I did not however, have the other problems that your were referring to.  The color was ok, only jerky with the new Catalyst video drivers.

I discovered that the original software that came with the 9600 was ok on MC10 but the latest four builds of the Catalyst video drivers are what is causing the jerky problems with MC10 on the ATI A-I-W 9600 Pro.

ATI is using a new TV tuner from Philips with an integrated FM radio tuner.  I think the new tuner may be the problem with the 9600 Pro.

All is ok with the ATI software.

Spooky - I just solved my issue as I got notification of your post.;D

My problem was the 'Video Capture Filter' found in the Advanced properties was set tp NTSC  :P- I changed it to PAL_B and hey presto....

However I now get the jerkyness you refer to. ?

My card is a now discontinued but new to me ATI All-in-Wonder 128 AGP

Are you running the latest drivers from the ATI web site or the ones that are on the original CD ?

The original ones worked for me but the latest Catalyst video drivers cause the jerkiness problem on MC.

All of the ATI Multimedia Center updates are ok.  It's just the Catalyst video drivers that are a problem on MC.

Think you need to take a look at what is going on with the "Crop edges" display option.  It seems to have a problem with all the latest ATI Catalyst video drivers.

That was the one thing I did not change in my very long search for the jerkiness problem. It seems to be the culprit  >:(

Thanks for posting this message as it helped me solve a problem that I had been having selecting the country in the setup of my ATI all in one wonder 7500. Any chance that you could sent the news to ATI as they don't seem to know the answer to the problem. Cheers
