Media Center 10.0.102 beta available
« on: March 30, 2004, 04:44:34 pm »

MC 10.0 is in late beta.  It may still have minor problems.

Please reserve this thread for bugs.

If you're not sure whether it's a bug, or you need to ask a question, please start a new thread.[/b]

The latest beta of 10 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter100102.exe

10.0.102 (3/30/04)

1. NEW: Added a way to always return a non-progressive JPEG for a file using MC's SDK.
2. Changed: Auto-size of columns and auto-size of tree width turned off. (configurable in Options > Tree & View)
3. Fixed: Sync dialog buttons wouldn't look good with some skins.
4. Fixed: Double-click in the tree with auto-collapse / auto-expand on could cause the wrong item to be used in some cases.
5. Changed: Double-click of Playing Now in the tree will start playback of the current playlist if nothing is playing.
6. Fixed: Installer would not properly shut down Media Server before installation.
7. Fixed: In fullscreen mode, pressing Alt+F4 in some dialogs could close Media Center instead of closing the current dialog.
8. Fixed: MC was incorrectly handling IntelliSteams. It was defaulting to the lowest bitrate.
9. Fixed: MC was showing incorrect bitrate for IntelliStreams.
10. Changed: Cover art is gathered upon completion of ripping each CD, rather than at the end of the entire ripping process.
11. Change: Navigation and refresh buttons are now grouped together.
12. Changed: After CD rip is complete, list view shows "recently ripped" playlist.
13. Changed: When a drop-list is visible during in place editing (alt+down, etc.) up and down will move inside that list instead of in the file list.
14. Changed: Root of 'Playlists' honors media mode. (still shows all files, which is by design)
15. Fixed: Right-click 'Play' on some tree items would unnecessarily change the view to that item.
16. Fixed: "Delete All Incomplete Files" menu command in Download Manager would not delete incomplete files.
17. Fixed: Adding / removing a handheld could cause a crash in some cases.
18. Fixed: On the fly conversion to Portables, when cancelled will clean up all temporary files.
19. Fixed: Portable synch dialogue 'Select All' skin drawing.
20. Changed: WMDM compatible players modified to access iRiver players.
21. Fixed: Changing the burned CD label in action window didn't update on the tree control.

There has been a small text error since v.8. Maybe it's time to fix it.  ;)

Not sure id this is a bug but it's really annoying...

For the last played it waits to go over 100 hours before it goes into days, Shouldn't this go into days after 23:59 hours?

It really looks odd....

since it is getting closer to the final beta build of mc10
there are a few cosmetic things that need to be addressed.
maybe you already know this but the formatting for the
word iPod is incorrect for the "iPod" plugin.

Problem:
Hmmmm...TV playback in MC is very 'annoying' to watch.  I have an ATI All-In-Wonder VE card and playback is perfect via ATI's MMC program...all the latest, greatest ATI software and drivers installed.  When I attempt to watch TV via MC, it plays...but, it gives you a headache because it is 'choppy' or something...especially noticeable if there is a lot of movement in the current seen.  Audio is fine...not choppy...just vidoe is not smooth (best description I can give).

Any ideas what I could check or do (adjust) to make MC playback TV correctly/smoothly?

Update:
Watching TV via MC again...I think it's flickering and that's what is annoying...is that a better clue to the problem?

Update:
Well...disabled "Crop edges" display option and it seems better...I didn't enable that...was on by default, I guess (yikes).

Now that transfers of images and video to handhelds are supported the Action Window in the Images and Video Media Modes should have a Handheld Player icon as well.

Columns are not auto-sizing correctly in all cases.  Fields with longer values (over about 75 bytes or so) will not have their columns auto-sized.  For the long fields this problem happens with:

* If I enable the "auto size columns" setting, it appears to do nothing.

* Using the "auto size columns now" context menu item does nothing.

* Putting the cursor between two columns and double clicking does nothing.

When a field has an extremely long value (such as a stream URL that goes on forever), it is pretty difficult to bring it all into view.  (Place the cursor, drag the column to the right as far as you can, move the window to the left; place the cursor, drag the column to the right as far as you can, move the window to the left...)

Edit: It seems that even "pretty small" columns aren't auto sizing for me.

12. Changed: After CD rip is complete, list view shows "recently ripped" playlist.

Thanks for this - it's been a real pain for a few builds.

When MC is minimized to the tray and I double click to restore it MC opens and minimizes again. Then if I double click it again it restores as it should. I can repeat this every time. No other apps behave this way.

GHammer,

A single click on the tray icon is all that's required to pop MC up and down...
one click up, one click down, one click up, one click down...

Been having "problems" with the database lately. The same song shows up more then once with strange sequence nummers. Sometimes a song shows up as much as 8 times, 3 or 4 on the average.

The nummers are very high and change sometimes when you try to acces the song. I currently use the 10.0.102 version.

No other problems and the songs can be accessed normally!

DocLotus agrees with me.[/url]

I think you guys should look at NOT defaulting the "Crop edges" option to on (because it causes jittery playback).

Bug:
1. Draging and dropping folders from My Computer drives to a data CD burn "Drop Files Here" causes ghost folders to appear in Compact Disc drive's folder list.  Set Folder Naming to "Album", drag a folder (for un-imported MP3s) to "Drop Files Here" and review new folder list for CD Drive...you'll see two entries (one for the original folder and one for the Album).  No amount of Refreshing would get rid of the 'ghost' folder names.

This is a followup to a problem I reported yesterday in the 10.0.101 thread.  I did not receive any response.

If I launch Media Center with a disc in my DVDRW drive, I get a hard hang of my computer.  I have to power down and restart.

I also get this problem if i put a blanc cd in after launch and then hit the burn cd button...again, hard hang.

Please help!!!

Thanks,
Freshman

I'm not sure when it started, but its really annoying when creating playlists it automatically takes and scrolls down the left pane to where the playlists are.  Forcing you to scroll back up to the artist you were at, to create another playlist.

Ripping CD to VBR still giving false info on track length/bit rate. Update from tags corrects this but it would be easier if it worked first time round.

Have you fixed bug when converting files with internal cover art which causes converted file to lose internal art, yet?  Wasn't reported as fixed in this build.

If we're onto minor things:

When "Ignore Articles" is checked in Options/Tree & View/Sorting, this is applied in the main tree but not in other areas (for instance, when selecting an Artist when you're building a Smartlist).  In those instances all artists beginning with "The" are still listed under T, and so on.  It would look more professional if the same settings were applied throughout the application.

When "Analyzing Audio" the whole PC seems to grind to a halt, with MC hogging 100% of the CPU.

Is there any way you can make it share the cpu a little better so other apps keep on running?

I'm running MC 10.0.100, on Windows XP Professional.
