Camera confusion
« on: April 03, 2004, 04:25:51 am »

I have a digital camera connected to a USB port.

If I select «Camera» in the action window when my iPod is not connected, I see an «Acquire Images» window with a dropdown box listing «Camera is not ready» and «Generic scanner».

If I select «Camera» in the action window when my iPod is connected, the dropdown box lists my iPod's device letter and name, and «Generic scanner».

In either of the above cases, if I select the generic scanner, I am given a «Select Source» window listing my scanner (which is not actually connected) and the camera.  Selecting the camera correctly connects to the camera.  If instead I click the «Cancel» button I am connected to the camera anyway.

This seems to be a rather devious route to follow, particularly as the camera which I wish to access is not even listed in the first dropdown box, and two other devices are listed which are manifestly not digital cameras.

Surely the skinning for the scanner stuff has always worked that way? As far back as I can remember anyway... and I definitely prefer it that way :-)
