OT: Firenet & Mounted Devices
« on: November 22, 2002, 04:01:54 am »

Folks,

Most of you may know that Windows XP contains built-in support for networking over firewire (IEEE 1394). I use it because I can sync the data on my notebook to my desktop in very short order. I also use it so I can do long MPEG renders on the notebook while the source files are on the desktop.

When I have the firenet running and I connect an external Firewire device (CD-R, iPod, Hard Drive, etc...) to my desktop computer, it acutally mounts on the notebook. Does anyone have a clue how to predict which of the two computers in the bus is going to take control of the device? ?
