Help Importing Playlists Please.
« on: April 06, 2004, 01:05:41 am »

Hello, I just purchased MediaCenter 10 and am loving it, BUT..I can't seem to import the 100+ playlists I've made in the past, some with Winamp etc.  They actually import fine but when I go to play them it tells me Media Center is unable to play that file and to make sure the path points to the library.  The songs will show up in the preview pane as a playlist but will not play and have a red icon to the left of them.  The only playlists that will work correctly as those made automatically when ripping a cd.
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you.

Oh, and I have the latest version of MediaCenter 10 as well.  Just downloaded tonight.

If your old playlist files are without path information, then you must put them in the same folder with your media files before importing to MC. Afterwards you can change the location of your media files by MC and all internal playlists are kept up-to-date.

If there is path information, it must be correct.

MC reads information from playlist files and makes internal playlists based on that information.

for example:

Winamp .m3u without path (playlist in the same folder):
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,The Art of Noise - Love
Art of Noise - Draft - 01 - Love.mp3

Winamp .m3u with path (playlist not in the same folder)
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,The Art of Noise - Love
D:\Music\Art of Noise\Draft\Art of Noise - Draft - 01 - Love.mp3

Edited a bit, it was too complicated. A.B.
