ipod and slow syncs?
« on: May 08, 2004, 10:06:16 pm »

Hello Gang,

I just upgraded to build 130(the latest stable build I guess).  I was on build 118 earlier and it was running just fine.  Am I imagining something or is taking forever to upload songs over to the ipod now?

Cheers,
G

Jim,

I don't have any conversion modes enabled.  My entire collection is just of mp3s and audible aa files.  Let me ask this question, what speed should I expect in a firewire connection?  I did a format of the drive before I uploaded the files and may be as it was a brand new sync it was slow.

G,

Try copying a set group of files directly to the iPod from Windows Explorer and take note of the time it takes. Delete the files. Transfer the same files during a sync with MC and see if the time is the same. The speed is dependent on all the hardware involved in the process. Are you drag and dropping the files or synching? If drag an drop, I have a way to improve this but your post implies you are synching.
