Windows Volume control setup - JlSounds
« on: February 19, 2025, 09:47:45 pm »

Hello,

I just got Ver 33 setup on my windows 10 PC. I have a JLsounds USB to I2S converter and a dedicated DAC I am using. I want to use the volume control on my Dell USB keyboard to control the volume. Like I do with Spotify, youtube, windows media player etc. BUT, I also want JRiver for Hi-rez playback.

JLsounds usb board has the option in JRiver for the Windows direct sound, Jlsounds ASIO, JLSounds Kernel, and a few other options. When I set it to ASIO or KERNEL the windows volume control does work. only when I set it to the windows default direct sound setting. which I know I don't want for best playback.

I have seen other post's with mention of standard and Internal settings etc. but no matter how I set them, they don't work...I am missing something.

Can anyone offer me some assistance?

There is an option in MC to use "Media Keys".

The options page has a search window.

It's not a JRiver problem.  You need to follow the directions from the manufacturer of the device.

It might be easier for you to get volume working without the device first.  Conversion may be the obstacle.

You said above that ASIO does work.  Why not use it?

Do a Google search for Exclusive Mode.  Another app may be using it and preventing use by JRiver.
