Tag viewer
« on: April 16, 2004, 04:04:02 pm »

I have been looking for a utility, preferrably one with a GUI, that will show ALL of the tags, including custom, that exists in my APE files.  So far, I have had no luck finding something to do this.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Note:  I have been using the "Replay Gain (radio)" tag that MC writes to the file as a test... No tag editor/viewer I have found yet, shows this one.

Thanks Galley, but it's not showing the custom tags like "Replay Gain (radio)" and a few others.. Unless I missed something in the software.  It's pretty nice otherwise!

Try
THF==The God Father

or MP3-Tag Studio

Both are free

Thanks Zevele, but neither of those seem to support APE files.

Still looking... :)

Ahh thanks!

It was either the unintuitive interface, or the older version I had downloaded that was tripping me up.  I got the version you linked, rocketsauce, and found the ape support.

As far as I can tell, it doesn't show any custom or non-standard tags though.  I'm rather suprised that there isn't one out there that does this already...

If a programmer reads this thread, it appears there's an opportunity here!  :)

I think I am going to hang on to this program though... It's free and it seems to do everything else you could want!

Well , do not have APE right now on my drives.
But , first , You have APEv2 tags on your APE?

If yes you have to go to

Manual Edit
Click on the monkey icone in the right window
You will get A new window
Click on
More Data
Here you are.

Using MPC with APEv2 tags to guide you.
But must be the same with APE as long as you use APEv2 tags.

IMPORTANT
There is not help files in TGF
If you plan to use it , copy some tracks to a test folder and play with it.

If not you may make a waste of your tags.

The Great Zev Plays: VA -Alternative Country · Vidalias / Questioningly [2:47 · #13] From the album: Cowpunks

PS:
I really do not understand why with Matt here MC does not read APEv2 tags in MP3.

DBPowerAmp's explorer shell extensions will show APE 2.0 tags and all the custom Metadata fields..   This works only in Windows Explorer though while hovering the mouse cursor over the file name.

Okay, got it now.  I can see and modify all the custom tags.

Thanks everyone! :)
