Replay Gain Analyze-Corrupt Files
« on: April 20, 2004, 09:16:49 am »

2 issues:
1) I am trying to analyze a library of 4500 songs for replay gain. I set it up to process overnight but each morning I find the process stopped shortly after starting because it found a corrupt file. At this rate, I will never get these files analyzed. Can't the process be made to skip these corrupt files and continue processing?

2) Why am I getting so many corrupt files? When the analyze process finds corrupt files, I try to play them. Sure enough, MC will not play them. BUT, they play fine in QCD. And these same files used to play in MC. How are they getting corrupt and why is MC choking on them but QCD doesn't? Most of the files are in ogg format.

I have MC ver 10.0.117 loaded.

If you can identify a file that causes the problem, we'd like to see it.

Thanks.

Maybe this is a different note to the above said problem. when MC was searching for default audio files, at the end it showed say 4536 files scanned, new files found 4533, total files in library 4533.
It is missing 3 files. Is it because of corrupted files? if so, how one can identify those 3 files without going thru the entire list of 4536 songs and matching it up.?

That maybe because you have "Skip Analyze" checked? It will identify those already analyzed and skip over them.

Aren't 'the missing' 3 files just non MC files eg data files or jpgs [if you've opted not to import them]?

Another strangeness to the corrupt files problem. Sometimes when Library-Analyze says a file is corrupt, it changes the file name. Tonight, when analyzing a file named "08 Function at the Junction.mp3", it stopped, saying the file was corrupt. But, it changed the name of the file to "08-FUN~1.MP3"

This seems to be happening more and more lately.
