Hello.
Today I was introduced to
Magnatune. I sugest you check it out - it's very cool. "shareware" music. Try before you buy, with 128k mp3, and then you can choose what you pay for it if you like it. You can then download in a format of your choice, from mp3 to FLAC to WAV. The artists get 50% on each sale, and they retain the rights to their music.
But that's not the point.
I found a playlist I liked, clicked on it and lo and behold, Windows Media Player decided that it was best at handling m3u files and so promptly did so. In disgust, I closed it, after noticing that the currently playing track had all of it's tag info there, whereas files it hadn't played yet were just listed as urls. Fair enough.
I opened up the m3u with Media Center, and MC listed all the unplayed songs as "song", which is I guess nicer than the url for each song.
However, when it played each song, it didn't get any of the tags.
The files are all encoded in mp3, and WMP was able to get artist, name, album, length etc as soon as it started playing.
Is this how MC is supposed to work? I was really gutted, because there was no way for me to know who the artist was that was playing. I actually had to go back and used WMP. I'm really really really sorry - please don't kill me.
Anyway, is this just how it is, or is it a bug?
Here's a playlist for your reference:
