Media Server query
« on: April 28, 2004, 05:38:23 pm »

So, I have been reading all these posts regarding Media Server and was wondering just what does it do and how does it work...I had a media server syetem that came bundled with my sony Vaio - and could never get the thing to work or get any answers on how it worked or rather, why it wouldn't work, so I just shared my music folder on our home LAN.  Why  is Media Server better than this route?  Just curious.  Bet

You can try it by running it.  There are a few simple options to set.  MC Help has info on this.  Then you start sharing.

You can connect to it even from the same PC.  File/Library/Search for Libraries.

You will get the library exactly as it is organized on the server.  It is read only.

Thanks, Jim.  this looks much easier than I had imagined from all the chatter...and much better than what came with my vaio (the clients all had to be sony systems!).
