Audible files won't import
« on: May 06, 2004, 01:59:58 am »

I'm using MC 10 .128 and can't import .aa (audible) files. When I scan the directory where they are located it displays 21 files scanned but no new ones.

I have the file associations set for .aa files and have also ensured that the files are not already in the library. To check this I created a new library just for audible files with the same result.

Other file types are importing OK.

Any ideas?

Ashley,

Not sure. I cannot replicate this, .aa import fine for me. You could let me know one of the files that fail and I will purchase it and test it to try to sort it out.

Thanks Steve,

It's as if MC thinks it already has the files in the library or that they are of a non-supported type.

I had to move my library and MC to a new PC. Everything else is fine it's just the .aa files.

Could it be something to do with Audible security?

I don't think it is the files but if you want to try then a cheap and smal one is Phiosophy of the Tao.

Steve,

I transferred the files from my iPod to my PC, to a new directory, and then reimported. No new files found.

I have checked the llibrary and it contains no aa files. Using a new library it alos files to import but the files are checked as it reports 17 files checked, no new files found.

Somewhere MC is holding a record of the files that used to be there or Audible security is causing this.

I'd really appreciate your help on this one.

Is the extension really .aa?

Yes it is. Just as it came off the iPod.

I've been playing with this for a while now.

Associations are fine.
Extensions are fine.

When I right click on an .aa file in explorer and choose Play in Media Centre, MC opens but plays nothing.

OK. They now import and play in MC. Re building the iPod now.

It was an Audible security issue. I hadn't installed Audible Manager on the new PC.

I guess I expected MC to tell me that it could see the files but wasn't 'allowed' to import them.

Thanks for the support.
