I wonder why MC server sends whole cover files to the clients but not thumbnails. When the cover files are large, (I assume the problem is worse for picture libraries), the thumbnails are created very slow on client side. If MC is restarted on client side, all thumbnails are recreated again.

Am I right in assuming that the problem is that MC sends the real cover files instead of just thumbnails?

Just because of this problem, I don't use client-server mode, but sync a library to all machines (well, actually to my wife's laptop only).

Same here.  I run three clients in my house and one server.  The cover art thumbnails (at any size) are excrutiatingly slow to the point of MC being unusable.  (Must wait several seconds for the screen to update)

Therefore, I have scrapped the Server idea and run 4 databases....
