Forcing MC to start up maximized.
« on: May 17, 2004, 10:05:55 pm »

I am trying out some remote control software that can start up MC, but it always starts it up in a smaller window rather than maximized.  Is there setting in MC or a command line parameter I can use to start MC that will force it to come up maximized when I use the remote to start it?

Thanks,

Larry

You can customize any shortcut by right-clicking on it.  (.lnk file)

You could also leave MC maximized since it remembers the last exit state.

The problem is that the other software overrides the "last exit state" and starts MC up in a window -- I have to maximize it every time I start MC with this remote software.  This does not happen if I start up MC with the normal shortcut -- it's only when I use the remote software to do it.  This is why I was hoping for some sort of command line option that would override the OTHER software and force MC to open up maximized.

Thanks again,

What is the remote software you are using?  I use girder to fire up MC using mjextman.exe /Power and it works fine.

It's the "boom2000" software that comes with the X10 MP3 remote.

How do you tell Girder to use a command line like that?  I'm trying to figure it out, but it seems overly complex for what I'm trying to do.

It's not difficult.  Bear with me because I don't have girder in front of me.

Add a new command (Ctrl +A in teh tree). Select the OS tab.  Select execute.  Below that you'll see some input boxes.  You need mjextman.exe in the first box and /power in the one below.  Then hit apply.  Test it by highlighting this new command and pressing F5.

I'm getting this to work -- thanks for the help.  I have high hopes for Girder -- assuming it fixes the "repeat" problem on the OTHER system.  It's interesting to note that the anti repeat in Girder is set to "0" yet I have no repeat problems on this system (as compared to MC where anti repeat time of 30 has LOTS of repeat problems.)
