Filename Field (Network Prefix Bug)
« on: May 19, 2004, 09:39:40 am »

Is this the place to ask for a fix or where someone from programming will seriously look at it?  Not that it is a genuine bug but it does provide a problem for drag and drop interaction with other programs.

I am connected to an mc10 server with mc10 on another machine.  When connected in such a manner, the Filename column in MC10 attaches this network ID to the front of the filename as in 'm01p://192.168.0.56:8088/Z:\Little Walter\1957-1959\One Of These Mornings.mp3'.

The prefix 'm01p://192.168.0.56:8088/' is what is causing some programs not to be able to find the song when dragging and dropping from mc10.  Most programs treat it as a Bad Filename.  One program, Adobe Audition, will open on drag and drop.  However, you have to ok several dialog boxes first.  These dialog boxes are clearly trying process the prefix 'm01p://192.168.0.56:8088/' because you can see each bit of the prefix in the dialog title bar.

It would be my suggestion if you must provide the network prefix info that it be given its own column separate from the filename path - Z:\Little Walter\1957-1959\One Of These Mornings.mp3 so other programs can process, easily, just the path and filename.
