Camera not recognized
« on: May 21, 2004, 04:40:57 pm »

MC still does not handle a camera connection properly:  it reports «Camera is not ready» in the action window but lists and opens the camera under «Generic scanner».

Is there any way to enlarge the «live view» picture?

What kind of camera is it?

What do you mean by "live view"?  Where are you?  What do you see?

The camera is an APX USB2 webcam connected to a USB port.

If I click «Camera» in the Action Window, the Acquire Images window appears with a dropdown list containing «Camera is not ready» and «Generic scanner».

If I then select «Generic scanner» and click Acquire I see a window called Select Source, listing my scanner by name (even though it is not actually plugged in), plus the camera.  With the camera name highlighted, clicking either Select or Cancel brings up a Live View window showing the camera's live output - this is presumably part of the camera's supplied software, for I get similar results using another camera, but a different viewing window.

To recognize the camera, it needs to be plugged in and turned on.

I'm not sure whether a Web cam will work.

It is plugged in, it is turned on, but MC appears to think it's a scanner.  Like I said, it works fine if I select it from the scanner source list.  But as it's a camera I think it should be recognised as such.

Another camera that gets the same error message is the panasonic FZ1. That's not a webcam, but an independent camera, with great lenses I must say :D

Is your version of MC reasonably current?
