I just downloaded MJ 8.0.388 and I feel that it is one of the best pieces of software of its kind.  HOWEVER  I have run into many bugs.  Now, I'm not sure if these are specific to me, but I did my best to read through the forum for solutions before posting.
heres what wasnt answered!
1.  MJ ALWAYS crashes when I try to acces a cd (either ripping or just accessing in the tree on the left of the screen) It just says "gathering information and updating..." then crashes.  Everytime.
2.  the black box on the lower left that shows the currently playing file, doesn't clear previous text before displaying new text.  so basically, it turns into a garbled mess very quickly.
3.  I cannot use skins.  it more often than not crashes outright, or buttons disappear, either way it is absically useless.
4.  Even when I select CDDB in the prefs, it still accesses YADB
5.  the program is just generally unreliable.  It'll be fine for a while, and then just disappear, not even an error message, it'll just be gone from my desktop.


Now my system is not out of date, I run WinXP (which I do a clean restore of about monthly with driveimage) and the hardware is more than sufficient.

Any solutions will be greatly appreciated.  You can understand my apprehension at putting money down with all this going on.....

I'll recommend that you go to 'Help' and then copy and paste your system info so that they can look at this when trying to find you a solution.

This one, by itself, is enough to say your OS isn't happy.  Running out of resources?  Bad video driver?

Have you tried rebooting and reinstalling?

Are you doing anything fancy in the background?  Other players, firewalls, virus checkers.  These shouldn't matter, but sometimes they do strange things.

This is not normal behavior.

Plexwriter 40/12/40a CD-RW  
Windows XP professional
the only thing running in the background is Norton antivirus

I just found a copy of Realplayer lurking on my system... and removed it as well...

Also, new problem, whn I try so set the burner in prefs, it doesnt recogize my Plextor.....

Please get the system info from MJ Help.

These two problems could both be video driver problems.  Leave the other problems for a little and see if you can solve these.

I fixed just about all of my prblems in one fell swoop.  I checked the system info and MJ thought I was running Win95... tuns out the executable was set for Win95 compatability mode.  seems like turning that off fixed just about everything!

probably my fault.  It's one of the first things I do when programs get wierd in WinXP (usually the problems occur with older games, and that solution fixes it right up)  I probably changed it when skins were acting up, and forgot about it...
