Delete Folder.jpg
« on: May 24, 2004, 12:56:00 pm »

Anybody know of a way that I can remove the folder.jpg pictures from the folders?

When you go into the folder you can not see them so you can't delete them.

Thanks,

Well I figured it out...

If anybody else is interested:

Go into Folder Options (Windows)
View
Highlite Show Hidden files and folders ....
Highlite "Display contents of system folders)
Go into the music folder and remove the Folder.jpg file.

Done.

guys...I'm using xp, sp2 and have always  been able to see my folder.jpeg files...I go to my computer, choose the drive that I keep my music stuff on (J) and then open the files that I want.  I can delete stuff that I don't want and can add stuff that I do, and just make sure that the new file is renamed folder if it is cover art.  ...never fooled around with the folder options..heck, not sure if I can remember how now that I'm old ;D

gamer, love the new avatar...looks like  me at a two am feeding for the grandbabe!!

ditto on the avatar! It reminds me of what I feel like after ripping and downloading and getting cover art and tagging for 36 hrs in a row!

I've been curious as to how some MC are getting this strange behavior with the folder.jpg when I've never had this happen to me and I've been a MC user since version 8. Can someone explain it to me?

I have done a general windows search and nothing comes up yet the folder has this realy lame white stripes thumbnail on top of it and like I said before MC uses it to tag files that don't have cover art with this file.  I can go into MC and remove that cover art, but anytime a new song is added and I don't find a cover art for it, MC then at some point in time seems to use the folder.jpg file.  But like I said I have searched within the folder itself and for the file in general over my hard drive also looking for hidden files and it is nowhere to be found.

Oh well just one of the unexplained mystery's in life!

Am wondering if you use or have used windows media player too?  Windows media player creates folder.jpgs that are invisible even when show hidden files is set to true (Cheers Microsoft!).  If you have nero installed you can use its browser to see the files and delete them.  Basically any low level file viewer will show them.

You can use ExplorerXP, a free file manager to view the hidden images.

or just use Microsofts Windows Explorer, but turn on the option to see hiden files without needing to download and install anything.

If you have used WMP then XP File Explorer is no good even with hidden files turned on.  They still don't show up.
