Recently though, JRiver has been keeping schtum about what's going on over there. That's annoying, and it comes across as them doing sod all, perhaps being on holiday.
Ph,
Thanks for writing. Letters are always appreciated here. Even if I don't know what "shtum" and "sod all" mean, though I can guess from the context.
Do you feel like we're keeping quiet? Loafing?
You're correct and I have to say how pleased I am to find that someone's noticed.
I went away this weekend. It was a nice few days away from the briar patch. I saw the Pacific (an ocean we have here). There were big waves. I saw fish. Some were behind glass. I looked down at the earth from 32,000 feet and felt fortunate.
It was a long weekend because of Memorial Day (another thread here explains). It's the beginning of summer and we have to pack life in for the few months that things slow down here. Beer, brats, baseball, baloney sandwiches, mustard.....
I live in a place that isn't very green for about 6 months each year. I like it.
At work, we are thinking right now. There isn't much else we can do. We've got a couple of big fish in our boat and we're waiting to see if we eat them or they eat us. It should be clear in a few months. We're legally bound to keep quiet in the meantime.
The business we're in has been moving at a very slow pace. We're trying to keep up.
What happens next will be this.
1. We'll release an alpha of the primitive skeleton of the next version. You won't be impressed.
2. We will begin to layer on features. About half our work will be in improving areas like image handling, theater view, and file management.
3. We'll add document handling so that you can manage and tag files like .doc or .html. This will probably be a different product. You won't have to take it if you don't want it.
4. We'll add services, like music or movie purchasing. This could go other directions.
And I plan to sod my side yard.
