Problems with Media Centre
« on: June 15, 2004, 04:14:27 am »

please - I purchased your software and I can't use it to rip CDS in other format that wma that is of no use to my iPOD. There are other people in my company that do it so it seems to be my problem only (or is it your version 10 ? everyone else has the 9)
I know i have a firewall but can someone at least email me the plug in converters ?
If not, can someone please give me an email contact for MC ? I feel very frustrated for the support provided... >:(

MP3 encoders are installed automatically with MC.  Please provide more information about your problem.  A step by step list of what you are trying and what happens would be useful.

when i try to pass a music to ipod or converter to somethign else that is not wma (for example in tools when ripping CDS) it says "the mp3 encoder is not installed in the system. do you want to download now ?"
OI click yes. It says that "Media Center us about to install a component, do you wish to continue?" I click yes.
Goes to package "Lame encoder and starts downloading. After 3KB says
"Failed to install package
More infoL Failed to unzip file 'C:\documents and settings\shisgz\local settings\lamemp3encoder.zip'
URL: http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/pluggins/lamemp3encoder.zip"

I have installed WinZip in my computer and tried to get the plug ins through the website and the result is always the same, so I can't trabsfer any music in my library to my ipod (convert) and every new CD is ripped on wma and not on mp3.

Any ideas?

What version are you using?  Did you try to update?

The problem you described was a bug in at least one recent version.

There is an entry in our FAQ for plug-in download problems.

Use IE, browse to plug-in on our web page, and right click and save as, then execute the mjp file.

I have the latest version 10. I downloaded about 2 weeks ago from the website. I've tried to update and re-install and I have always the same problem.
I tried to follow the instructions about plug ins but I can't even save the file - the only think I can do is press to download that leads me to all the other problems.
Is it it possible just to send me those files by email ?

I downloaded mediacenter for a 30 day trial when installed
I was notified the 30 day trial had expired.

1 Check your system clock, If it's not correct the program will do that.
2 Did you ever have a prior version installed?

Help / System Info - MC copies the details into the paste buffer so they can be pasted into a message.

There is a board called "Portable Digital Players" here.  Please post there.
