BURN MP3 DATA FILE ON DVD
« on: June 24, 2004, 01:35:19 pm »

I am trying to burn a data DVD of 4gb of files from my audio library.  The program seems to only accept a CD for a data burn.

Can you burn a data DVD of mp3's to be played in a home DVD unit?
Thanks.

MC will burn data CD's and DVD's.  Whether the DVD player will recognize the data DVD of MP3 files isn't certain.  It depends on the player.

Why does the message display -
"You have selected more music than will fit on the listed capacity of your CD.  Would you still like to continue?"

Will it burn all the files if I select 'Yes'?  Does it have anything to do with the fact it is a combo (DVD / CD) burner?

Thanks again.

When that message appeared, did you have a blank DVD in the tray? If so, it's a bug. The burn should work ok, it's just an incorrect message.

Yes.  DVD was inserted and ready to go.

So, you're saying go ahead and say 'Yes' and it should work?  No big deal - just risking one blank DVD.

What's the size of files that you were getting the message?

I have seen that message before when you are near capacity....

3GB.  But I think it starts flashing with anything over 700mb.  It just seems to be looking for a cd...........  Then when I click on the 'Burn', I get the message noted above.

So here is what happens when I go ahead and try to burn the DVD.....

CD Writer
Error transferring file D: {filename}.mp3
Data disk will not be reliable.
                                         OK

The happens with the first file, and comes up with each subsequent file after clicking 'ok'.

The program just seems to be trying to write to a CD burner here.  Again, my drive is a combo DVD and CD burner.  I have burned both media with it for some time and have had no problems at all.

Thanks.
