I see this has been asked for a number of times - and i'd just like to add my vote for support too. It's the best keyboard i've ever used and the Media Pad and MC should be a match made in heaven.

Cheers...

I've seen people post about Logitach iTouch keyboards working (i know, cos i've got one of those too).

But if you've seen instructions on the diNovo i'd appreciate being pointed to them!

Basically the only thing that works for me is the volume. The Play/Stop/Media buttons don't work and the display doesn't show current track info.

I had a quick look in the Registry, but there was nothing obvious to edit there....

Hi,

1)
first copy this and paste it in a file jriver.reg
This will update your registry.
Adjust the path to your installation path of Media Center:
*** copy after this line:***

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Media Jukebox.exe]
"Path"="C:\\Program Files\\J River\\Media Center"
@="C:\\Program Files\\J River\\Media Center\\Media Jukebox.exe"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Media Center]
"Path"="C:\\Program Files\\J River\\Media Center"
@="C:\\Program Files\\J River\\Media Center\\Media Jukebox.exe"

*** end copy before this line ***

Execute your new jriver.reg script by doubleclicking.
Answer any question with yes.

2)
the following is my player.ini file for setpoint software.
Copy it and create a file player.ini in your setpoint directory, e.g.
c:\program files\logitech\setpoint
Backup your old player.ini file in this directory

*** copy after this line:***

#List of supported players

This does the job for me. All Transportation keys should work now.

3)
There is nothing you can do to get the title information on your media pad.
A Plugin needs to be programmed.

I hope that maybe jriver can do it.  Please???

Or they can give some information how to approach it.
We will need some api from Logitech. Don't know if they will supply it.

Good luck

I too would like to see more integration. So far I really like this KB/Mouse combo.

Thanks Chili-Jam,

Excellent info.

Tried your approach and I can now enjoy the MediaPad as remote-controle of MC in theater view.

However a plug-in integrating the functionality of the display on the MediaPad with MC would be even greater.

I've looked around on the internet and it seems that Logitech has no public API that allows us to make a lcd-plugin from MJ. The users of WinAmp suffers from the same problem, or at least they did some months ago.

But! I have one idéa left: Since MJ has all that it takes to programatically find out which song that is played at the moment and that it is possible to make applications that talk bluetooth, it could be possible to make an application that send the current playing song to the mediapads lcd. I asked a friend of mine who is as skilled programmer and he thought that it would work, but he said that Logitech might have locked the lcd-screen for external "calls" and then we would be forced to use the drivers from Logitech and .... that seems to be a dead end.

How about asking Logitech to support it?  It's more important for them to hear from end users than from JRiver.

Maybe someone could find the right point of contact and post it here.

Referring to CNET's download.com rating might help.  [ediit -- they just changed to the new version -- there goes the 5 star rating]

I asked for support for the diNuovo-keyboard once in January via the Logitech homepage, but with no success.

Someone (EU_Customer_Service@eu.logitech.com) replied 2 or 3 days later :
(originally in german)
"......for the moment we are only fully supporting the Mediaplayer 9, using the LCD-disply.
It is already possible to control other players, without LCD-display support.
We can't tell right now you when or even if your player will be suppported.
Unfortunately we have no support for software developers for our keyboards....."

Well, if many users ask for support for MC then perhaps something will happen? I sent a request to their support yesterday, no reply yet.

I just got a reply from Logitech:

    Dear Mr. Svebeck,
    Thank you for your enquiry.

I will try to pass on your request, but it is not possible with all software. If it is you may
see it added in a future version of the SetPoint software.

    Kind regards,

Shame they don't seem to have considered publishing an SDK....

Kobba,
Please ask Devon if he and his friends in support would like a few licenses so they can try the software.

Thanks for your efforts.  I'm sure it helps.

Last week I told him that he could problably get a few licenses to try it out (I forwarded your name Jim). And I also told him that MC is an outstanding software and all the things it does much better than MS Media PLayer and WinAmp and the Logitech Media Software that is provided with DiNovo. No reply yet though.

However, I stil would like to try to make a separate application that comunicates with the mediapad, because then I could do just what I like with it, instead of getting the standard functionality from Logitech.

For instance, the lcd-display only displays the currently played song. I would also like to be able to see the next song and so on. So I'm gonna try to make an application that sends information to the mediapad. I've managed to make an application that gets the current playlist and that was really easy. The tricky part is to send this information to the lcd on the mediapad. Anyone with knowledge on comunicating with a bluetooth device? Please contact me!

Sounds good.  Thanks for passing along our info to Logitech.

On Bluetooth, did you try the standards body?

I just went to check out that dinovo at logitech and I have to say I really like it as well. The price tag is kinda ridiculous though in my opinion. For that price you could get a color Pronto.

And since I'm talking about Prontos, has anyone seen their newest remote? It's very expensive but looks really nice:

I decided to contact Logitech myself, since it would be REALLY great if we could get Media Center talking to the Media Pad (I had a look myself to see if there were any DLLs, etc. that we might be able to hook into, but couldn't find much).

Their reply was:

Unfortunately there are no APIs or SDKs available at this time yet for the diNovo. The Bluetooth technology we use in these products is still very fresh and developping very fast, so that it is not yet possible to have any SDKs. Perhaps there will be one at sometime in the future although even this is not really sure yet.

All I can do for the time being is to add the JRiver Media Center to the list of suggested players. Marketing and Product Development constantly review these list also in terms of market share and then decide as to which player should be implemented next.
